Is it over already?

October 14, 2009 by irantandrave

Is it over already or just for the U.S.? Is globalization going to come to a screeching halt or will it just feel that way to us? We are loosing jobs because of it. We are even loosing technology. China and others want to drop the dollar as the trading currency for oil. Who knows what effect that could have. Russia is acting like the cold war days. With more and more “developing counties” popping up it gives companies  new stomping grounds, for cheap labor, cheap natural resources, fewer environmental regulations and of coarse with that comes a new consumer market in the works.  The world may not be ready to continue with the globalization dream, but it may be ready to leave us in its wake.

Rush

I have watched Mr. Rush the last few days on the Today show (or whatever morning he was on) and cant help but understand a bit of his humor or entertainment value in his over the top radio shows. The problem is in my opinion that many of the people that listen to him dont get it and his angry rants that are intended to provoke the left are actually making a portion of the right angry towards Obama to a degree unseen in our history. Even when the left was against Bush and the war, there still seemed to be some shred of respect for (at least) the office for which he held. I have to say I cant say the same for many (not all) on the right who seem to HATE Obama, and want to see him fail at everything.

Nobel Peace Prize

October 10, 2009 by irantandrave

There seems to be quite a stir about the president winning the Nobel Peace Prize. While critics make valid points about his lack of accomplishments thus far in his presidency, I cant help but think of what this award actually tells us. The fact that he won and he has not “accomplished” anything yet is very telling of the importance  of our great country in the world. The majority of the international community is happy that the most important nation is back at the table to be a leader in diplomacy in a very trying time throughout the world.

This was in fact a surprise, but maybe it should not have been. We are in fact still the largest cog in the global machine.

Where are we going?

October 7, 2009 by irantandrave

Lets jump right on into this thing. Who out there thinks we are heading in the right direction? Who thinks we are going in the wrong direction? Why? Is it the President? Is it Congress? Is it us? I will tell you that from just talking to people that I know, many do not feel we are on the right path. I am curious to find out why and what we should do. Could we as a people step up and make change if things were really going wrong? Do we still have it in us as our ancestors did to make the hard choices, the right choices?

Hello world!

Welcome to all. Or any. I am creating this to blog to express and explore current topics in our “pop culture”  I will try to introduce topics for discussion as much as possible. I have never done a blog before or even participated in someone else blog. I think this will be a good outlet for me as I have been more drawn to politics and the like in the past few years.
